A visit to the Van Gogh House Drenthe and a barge trip on board the ‘Johannes Veldkamp’

In 1883, Vincent van Gogh arrived in Nieuw-Amsterdam on board a ‘snikke’ (tow barge) from Hoogeveen.

He stayed at the Scholte family lodgings in Nieuw-Amsterdam, which is nowadays the Van Gogh House Drenthe, for a couple of months.

This package comprises a visit to the Van Gogh House Drenthe and a barge trip on board the Snikke.

In the Van Gogh House Drenthe, you will enjoy a guided tour, including a visit to the room where Vincent van Gogh lived and worked.

Programme for this package:

  • 13.00 hours: Departure from Meringa Museum on the Stieltjeskanaal, on board the barge
  • 14.00 hours: guided tour of the Van Gogh House Drenthe
  • 14.45 hours: time to look around / shop
  • 15.15 hours: return to Meringa Museum on board the barge (arriving around 16.15 hours)
